Day 1 Depart
New York Overnight transatlantic flight
to Delhi, India.
Day 2 Arrive
Delhi (2) On arrival in Delhi, we transfer
to our deluxe hotel.

Day 3 Delhi
sightseeing & at leisure Today's sightseeing
tour will feature the gigantic Red Fort, Jama Masjid, India Gate,
the Parliament House, the Humayun's Tomb and Qutab Minar. Then your afternoon
is at leisure to perhaps shop in Connaught Circus and nearby colorful bazaars.
Later tonight, we return to the Red Fort to enjoy a 'Sound &
Light' show, which will be followed by a sumptuous Indian
banquet at Chor Bizzare theme restaurant. (B) (HD)
Day 4 Delhi
Sikandra Agra Taj Mahal Our day
begins with a drive to Sikandra to see the red sandstone
Tomb
of Akbar. Then off to Agra for the highlight of our
tour - a visit to the Taj Mahal - probably the most photographed
building in the world. Here there's time to discover its incredible beauty.
At sunset, the shimmering marble tomb turns from gleaming white to shades
of pink and finally a moon-glow blue - truly an unforgettable sight! (B)

Day 5 Agra
Fatehpur Sikri Jaipur (2) This morning
we return to the Taj Mahal for an unforgettable sunrise
experience. The subtle shifting of hues from flaming red, through
pink to dazzling white as dawn breaks is a wondrous start to the day. After
breakfast, we drive to Fatehpur Sikri, with its palace buildings,
lavish harems, bath-houses, courtyards and pleasure pavilions. On to Jaipur
for two nights. (B D)

Day 6 Jaipur
sightseeing & at leisure Today's sightseeing
includes
the City Palace with its museum, art gallery and treasure
house, before we visit the Jantar Mantar Observatory. Next,
we pause before the Palace of the Winds and visit the Ram Niwas Gardens.
Next, we stop to visit the former capital, Amber. Here, we
ride in style to the top of this great hilltop fortress on the back of
a beautifully decorated elephant! Then, our guide
will walk us through such wonders as the Hall of Pleasure, the Palace
of Mirrors and the King's secret hideaway, a fabulous
room of glistening mirrors, gems and coloured glass set in walls of powdered
marble, egg shells and crushed pearls. (B D)
Day 7 Jaipur
Khimsar After breakfast our journey
takes us through the Rajasthani countryside on our way to
Khimsar
Palace, a luxurious oasis of medieval splendour. We'll enjoy an
evening
sunset visit to the sand dunes with a picnic tea. This evening,
dinner and our overnight stay is at this majestic Palace.

Day 8 Khimsar
Jodhpur We head to the desert city of
Jodhpurwhere
the colourful past of warrior Sikhs comes alive as our local guide
walks us through the vast Mehrangarh Fortress, with its spectacular
views. Next,
sightseeing takes us on a visit to the Mandore
Garden and Hall of Heroes. Our hotel, the Umaid Bhawan,
is the actual Palace of the last maharajah of Jodhpur! (B D)

Day 9 Jodhpur
Ranakpur Kumbulgarh Today our first
stop is at Ranakpur, a splendid 15th century temple, with
its 1444 intricately carved marble columns, all different. Then we continue
on to Kumbulgarh to visit the impregnable fortress as the
sun sets over the valley below. Tonight, our comfortable hotel is at the
base of the giant walls of Kumbulgarh Fort, far from the hustle and bustle
of city life. (B D)

Day 10 Kumbulgarh
Udaipur Today we make our way to Udaipur,
the loveliest of Indian cities, where the most famous attraction is the
Lake
Palace - Summer residence of the maharana - and our fabulous hotel
during our stay! We travel to and from this island paradise by brightly
caparisoned motor launch. We'll tour the many sights of Udaipur
including the City Palace and Museum and the 'Garden
of the Maidens'. Later, we drive to Eklingi village
to view the famed Shiva temple and other ancient shrines
before returning to our hotel for the night. (B D)

Day 11 Udaipur
Bombay (Mumbai) This morning we board
our flight to Bombay. Once again, our hotel is one of the
city's great attractions - the world famous Taj Mahal Hotel,
opposite the Gateway of India which marks the spot where the Union Jack
was lowered for the last time, ending 200 years of British rule. We'll
enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour which reveals the city's
impressive 19th century colonial buildings, the University, the Victoria
& Albert Museum and the Railway Station. We end this fascinating
day with a leisurely stroll around the amazing hilltop Hanging Gardens
with panoramas of the city and ocean below. (B)

(Mumbai) New York This morning after
breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our transatlantic flight back
