  • Xi'an: Explore the excavations of the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses. Meet a local farmer and see his cave home along the Yellow River.

Day 1 - Depart North America
Board your overnight flight to Beijing.

Day 2 - Arrive Beijing (3 nights)
Meet your Trafalgar Tour Director and transfer to your deluxe hotel.Spend the afternoon at your leisure.

Day 3 - Beijing
Today, you’ll bear witness to some of the sights that make China a world-class destination – the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and the Summer Palace. While in Tiananmen Square, think about many of the impassioned events that have occurred here. Continue walking through the Tiananmen Gate, the entranceway to the Forbidden City, the most complete ancient imperial palace in the world. Contrast the opulence of the Forbidden City with the tranquilness of the Summer Palace. It is truly a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design. In the evening, indulge in a traditional Peking Duck dinner. (Breakfast /Lunch / Dinner)

Day 4 - Beijing
With over 2,000 years of history, the Great Wall is one of the man-made marvels of the world. Each step you take along the wall is like retracing history. After you experience the Great Wall, explore the Ming Tombs, home to the lavish burial chambers of 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty. End your day with tea and refreshments and a traditional Peking Opera performance. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 5 - Beijing – Xi’an (2 nights)
Explore the Temple of Heaven where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshiped heaven. Later in the day, fly to the ancient city of Xi’an. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 6 - Xi’an
Xi’an is home to the life-sized Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, truly an extraordinary site to behold. Explore this ancient city and its amazing sculptures. Then enjoy a traditional dumpling lunch before meeting with a local farmer and touring his cave home along the Yellow River. In the evening, watch the centuries come alive at a Tang Dynasty dinner and cultural show -- a true glimpse into the lifestyle of the imperial court which ruled China more than 1,000 years ago. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 7 - Xi’an – Chongqing
Fly from Xi’an to Chongqing, known for great Sichuan cuisine and pandas. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 8 - Chongqing – Yangtze River (6 nights) – Fengdu
Board your cruise ship and sail along the Yangtze with its enchanting rushing waters and vertical limestone cliffs. Down river, visit the “Ghost City,” Fengdu and tour the temples on Mingshan Hill. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 9 - Yangtze River – Three Lesser Gorges and Two Gorges
Board a riverboat and embark on a voyage down the Lesser Three Gorges, depending on water levels. It’s an enchanting and tranquil journey that will take you through “Dragon Gate,” “Misty Gorge” and “Emerald Gorge.” After returning to the cruise ship, you’ll sail through Qutang Gorge, the grandest of them all and Wu Gorge, with its majestic 12 mountain peaks. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 10 - Yangtze River – Three Gorges Dam
Admire the dramatic shoals and verdant cliffs as you cruise through Xiling Gorge on the way to the site of the controversial Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest hydroelectric power project dam. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 11 - Yangtze River – Wuhan
Tour Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province and a fusion of three cities that span both banks of the Yangtze. Explore the Hubei Provincial Museum. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 12 - Yangtze River – Huangshan
Disembark at Guichi for a full-day tour to Huangshan, and discover why countless painters and poets have been lured to this landscape. China’s Yellow Mountain is famous for rocky, mist-enshrouded peaks and artistically shaped pine trees. Pass by quaint villages and bright green rice paddies on your journey. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 13 - Yangtze River – Nanjing
Set in the foothills of the Zijin Mountains on the southern bank of the Yangtze, Nanjing holds a prominent place in Chinese history. In the Old Town, you’ll visit the Mausoleum of Sun Yat-sen. You’ll also have time to browse the Qing Dynasty-style bazaar and explore the Confucian Temple. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 14 - Yangtze River – Shanghai (2 nights)
Disembark and enjoy the many splendors of Shanghai. Stroll the Bund waterfront promenade, walk alleyways of Old Town, and enjoy peaceful Yu Yuan Garden. Stop by the Children’s Palace where youngsters receive advanced training in art and music. In the evening, be our guest at an exhilarating performance of the amazing Shanghai Acrobats. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 15 - Shanghai – Suzhou – Shanghai
The ancient, moated city of Suzhou is famous for its classical gardens and centuries-old silk industry. “In Heaven there is paradise, on earth, Suzhou,” according to an old Chinese saying. And the Gardens are indeed heavenly. Wander through the Humble Administrator gardens and then learn about silk manufacturing at the Silk Institute. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 16 - Shanghai – North America
Fly from Shanghai home with tales from the Far East. (Breakfast)
