Collette Touring South Africa
The Complete African Experience

Get ready for the ultimate African travel adventure through the brilliant expanses of Southern Africa, on a journey to South Africa, Victoria Falls, and Botswana. In the land of eleven languages that Desmond Tutu called “The Rainbow Nation,” get ready to experience an Africa you’ve only dreamed about. From Cape Town – the Mother Country’s Mother City – to Table Mountain and the famous winelands of the Western Cape, the spirit moves. From stars you can only see in the Southern hemisphere to the ways of life in a local village learned from an elder, the eyes open. From the thundering power of Victoria Falls to the roar of a lion king in a remote Botswana wilderness, the soul stirs. And on the glittering Chobe River, on a search for wildlife you only thought was legend, the world unfolds. As the African proverb says: In South Africa, the eye never forgets what the heart has seen.

From urban centers to wild safaris, South Africa takes you by surprise, delighting you again and again until its unique spirit claims you, heart and soul.

Day 2 Cape Town, South Africa - Tour Begins

Your tour begins in South Africa. Immerse yourself in the pulse of this electric cultural mecca called Cape Town. Nicknamed “The Mother City,” it captivates you at every turn. Discover a melting pot of Dutch, French, and German architecture that embolden the horizon. Explore Alfred & Victoria Waterfront, a Cape Town hotspot and one of South Africa’s most compelling destinations, from heritage sites to historic landmarks, markets, shops, and restaurants.

Day 3 Cape Town

Collette Touring South Africa

Revolve at an altitude of more than 3,000 feet in a cable car atop incredible Table Mountain.* Rise gently over the South African landscape, rich in views of Cape Town, Lions Head, and historic Robben Island. Step in to a kingdom of natural wonders, where thousands of plant and floral species thrive. Return to the city via Table Bay. Pass through the Moorish Malay Quarter and pause at Milnerton Lighthouse. The rest of the afternoon is yours. Steps from the bustling waterfront, your hotel is in Cape Town’s best location. Day 4 Cape Town

The drama of Cape Peninsula’s halcyon landscape leads you to Cape Point on the southwestern tip of Africa. Marvel at nature’s color wheel – shades of green that blanket rocky outcrops and cerulean waters that form into waves and crash into a brilliant lavender blue. Bartolomeau Dias, the first European to reach the Cape, named it the Cape of Storms, but it was re-named Cape of Good Hope by Portugal’s King John II when it opened a sea route to the East. Among mystic mountaintops over open seas, set out on an easy hike down mountain, passing through one of the world’s six floral kingdoms. End at Boulders Beach for the rarest of black-tie events – a rendezvous with endangered African penguins! This evening, find yourself an honored guest for dinner at a Capetonian family’s home. Dine, exchange stories, and share a true “day-in-the-life” experience. End the evening with happy memories and lifelong friends.

After a relaxing morning, a short drive takes you to the idyllic town of Stellenbosch – a zenith of South Africa’s famous winelands. Among rolling vineyards where historic Cape Dutch architecture dots the landscape, enjoy the afternoon at leisure. This evening, learn about South Africa’s renowned varietals during a wine tasting. End with dinner created with locally-sourced ingredients.

DAY 8 ENTABENI CONSERVANCY

Answer the call of the wild before sunrise. In the open expanse of Entabeni, among the pitch-perfect sounds of the wild, drive out in your 4x4 on a chase for the elusive “Big 5.” Enjoy coffee and tea in the bush. Later, follow the clues left by wildlife tracks as you head out on an investigation alongside a ranger and tracker before relaxing over lunch in the gardens. This afternoon, drive past the big cats as they prepare for the hunt. Under the night sky, indulge in a braai. From the Afrikaans meaning “grilled meat,” a braai is a unifying tradition of an old-fashioned, round-the-fire barbeque that’s a great societal equalizer, a lot of sausage, a lot of spice, and a lot of fun. Afterward, look up and discover your Shangri-La beneath a parade of stars and constellations only glimpsed in the Southern Hemisphere.

No Worries Protection Plan

What exactly is your cancellation waiver?

We have the best cancellation waiver in the industry-period. You can cancel your trip up until the day prior to departure for any reason - sickness, change of heart or any reason whatsoever-and you will receive a full refund, minus the small cost of the insurance. That's a cash refund, not a voucher or certificate. There's no risk when you book with Collette.

But isn't it expensive?
Not at all! Let's say you were planning to take our Italian Vistas tour for 13 days. The land-only waiver is just $170 per person. That breaks down to about $13.07 a day-just a little over eight euros! The land and air waiver is only $30 more. That's airplane peanuts compared to the peace of mind you'll enjoy.

Plus, you're covered on tour.
Our cancellation waiver and insurance plan covers you on tour. If you have to stop your trip or return home early, need medical assistance or evacuation, suffer a baggage loss or delay; or are delayed on tour for 12 hours or more, you're covered.

Testimonials:
My husband had an accident in New Zealand…He subsequently had to be transferred by ambulance to Invercargill (Southland Hospital) to have surgery on his leg. He spent one week in the hospital. I am so glad we always take out the insurance. This is our third trip with Collette and we always take out the insurance…In spite of the accident, we had a wonderful time in Australia and New Zealand up to Queenstown and we are very glad we took the trip. Genevieve Gallagher, Clifton Park, NY

We had one unfortunate problem; one traveler broke her ankle…Thank goodness I insist that my passengers take the insurance. Virginia Gratton, Greenport, NY

CANCELLATION WAIVER & INSURANCE PLAN
Exception: If you originally purchased non-refundable airline tickets, the Waiver does not provide a refund for the airline tickets, taxes or fees in the event of a cancellation or a return transportation benefit if you must return home early. The air waiver does not cover medical evacuation or additional expenses associated with a medical emergency.

The Waiver Fee does not cover any single supplement charges which arise from an individual’s traveling companion electing to cancel for any reason prior to departure. In this case, the single supplement will be deducted from the refund of the person who cancels. Division of this charge between the two passengers involved is solely their responsibility. If insufficient funds are deducted from the canceling client, the traveling client will be charged the remaining portion of the single supplement.

Payment of the Waiver Fee (if chosen) must be received by Collette Vacations with your Deposit. The Waiver is non-transferable and valid for each applicant only.

Collette Vacations can assume no responsibility for and cannot be held liable for any wrongful, negligent or unauthorized acts or omissions of any travel agent or travel agency other than that of Collette Travel Service, Inc. itself, and its own employees.
