covers three countries: Spain, Morocco, and Portugal, concentrating on
the southern part of the Iberian Peninsula. Start your vacation in
Madrid,
Spain’s capital, with an included welcome dinner. Two-night stays in
the
cities of Madrid, Lisbon, and Seville allow enough time for in-depth
sightseeing
tours including visits to important sights, such as Madrid’s Prado
Museum,
Lisbon’s Jeronimos Monastery, and Seville’s cathedral with Columbus’
tomb.
The overnight stay in Tangier gives you a nice taste of Morocco with a
guided tour and visit to the colorful Grand Socco Market and a
panoramic
drive to Cap Spartain. Ferry crossings over the Strait of Gibraltar
allow
you spectacular views of the Rock. There’s a full day at leisure at the
Costa del Sol with the possibility to join an optional excursion to the
Rock of Gibraltar before you continue to Granada. In Granada, enjoy a
guided
walking tour and visit to the famed Alhambra complex with a Local
Guide.
Before arriving back in Madrid, stop in Toledo, where you see one of El
Greco’s most famous paintings. When you arrive home from this vacation

capital of Spain since 1561, Madrid today is a strikingly modern city,
the showcase of a country resolutely turned towards the future. Your

Guide takes you to the Puerta del Sol, Plaza de España with its
monument to Cervantes, the Parliament, Cibeles Fountain, elegant Calle
Alcala, and Paseo de Castellana. Then the highlight: a visit to the
palatial
PRADO MUSEUM with its priceless art treasures. In the afternoon an
optional
excursion to El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen can be arranged.

Madrid–Segovia–Avila–Salamanca

A day
in beautiful Castile. Cross the rugged Sierra de Guadarrama on the way
to Segovia, famous for its Alcazar and the 2,000-year-old Roman
aqueduct.
Next, enjoy a walk through the walled town of Avila where St. Theresa
founded
the Order of Carmelites. Overnight in Salamanca, whose baroque Plaza
Mayor

Portugal

majestic scenery of the Serra da Estrela mountain range forms the
backdrop
of your morning drive into Portugal. Before heading for Lisbon, melt
into
the stream of pilgrims from all over the world as you visit the
SANCTUARY

Portugal’s
imperial ambitions date back to Prince Henry the Navigator’s
15th-century
discoveries in West Africa and did not subside until the 1970s. Morning
sightseeing with a Local Guide features Belem Tower, guarding the
estuary
of the Tagus River, and JERONIMOS MONASTERY with the tomb of Vasco da
Gama.
Drive past the bull ring to Pombal Statue and on along the grand
Avenida
da Liberdade. Then, enjoy a walk through the cobbled alleys of ALFAMA,
the quarter of the seamen. Afternoon and evening at leisure. This
evening,

your sightseeing tour with a Local Guide, hear about the city’s role in
Roman times, its conquest by the Moors in 712 AD, and its contribution
to the discovery of the New World. Admire MARIA LUISA PARK. Drive to
the
Plaza de España, the Gold Tower on the Guadalquivir River, and
the
university that used to be the tobacco factory of Carmen fame. Visit
the
CATHEDRAL with Columbus’ tomb, the world’s largest gothic edifice.
Then,
stroll through the narrow lanes of the charming Santa Cruz quarter. For
a truly Andalusian night out, reserve a seat at our optional flamenco
show.

Seville–Tangier,

Through
the sunny sherry wine region of Jerez to Algeciras. Board your FERRY
and
sail across the Straits of Gibraltar to Africa. Continue to Tangier,
jumping-off
point for the Moorish conquest of Spain and home town of legendary
medieval
traveler Ibn Batuta. Sightseeing with a Local Guide includes a
panoramic
drive to CAP SPARTEL, where you will quench your thirst Bedouin-style

Tangier–Torremolinos,
Spain

Tangier’s colorful GRAND SOCCO market and explore the narrow streets of
the Casbah. Then, return across the Straits with cameras at the ready

superb views of the Old Quarter and Sacromonte, a mountain occupied by
Gypsy cave dwellers. Also admire the magnificent WATER GARDENS OF THE

Granada–Toledo–Madrid

olive and orange groves of the rolling Andalusian hills and later the

by a loop of the Tagus River. Your walking tour with a Local Guide

the Moorish bridge, and visits to an early SYNAGOGUE, the 13th-century
gothic CATHEDRAL, and the CHURCH OF SANTO TOMÉ with one of El

About
Globus
More than 75 years
ago, Antonio Mantegazza bought a rowboat to transport commercial goods
across Lake Lugano in Switzerland. Who could know that rowboat would
launch
the world's leading escorted travel company? Today Globus is a global,

Later that decade, under the leadership of Werner Albek, Antonio's
business
partner, Globus pioneered the concept of Grand European Touring by
offering
first-class European tours to North Americans. By 1961, the company
launched
its Cosmos arm, which featured affordable, value-priced European
touring
for the cost-conscious British traveler.
The coach tours
were so successful that Cosmos soon introduced another form of travel
for
the British market: air holiday packages to the sunny destinations of
southern
Europe. By 1968, Cosmos air holidays became so popular the company
formed
its own airline, Monarch Airlines. Monarch Airlines started out
modestly
with two used Britannia aircraft and eventually blossomed into one of
the
most successful European charter companies with a large fleet of modern
jets and its own engineering division.
Under the flagship
of Sergio Mantegazza, current president and son of Antonio, Globus
began
expanding its markets beyond Great Britain and North America. Since
1974,
travel packages have been sold in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and
most
recently in Southeast Asia. Starting in the 70s, the company also
aggressively

payments made by its customers for all 2005 vacation departures sold in

letter of credit has been issued by Credit Suisse S.A. in favor of
PRO-CLAIM,

PRO-CLAIM
