TRAVEL PROTECTION PLAN
You're planning your annual vacation, or the vacation of a lifetime. Either way you don't want to think about canceling or interrupting your trip. Or getting sick. Or losing your luggage.
We know these things happen and we provide travelers peace of mind with a Travel Protection Plan offered by Trip Mate Insurance Agency, Inc.
Travel Arrangement Protection* - Part A
Should you cancel or interrupt your Cosmos tour due to a covered injury, sickness, death your own, or that of a Traveling Companion, or of a member of the Immediate Family or for Other Covered Events as defined, you (in the case of your death, your estate) will be reimbursed up to $10,000: 1) for cancellation charges imposed by Cosmos and/or by any airline that provided direct flight connections to join your Cosmos tour, If you cancel prior to departure; or, 2) the unused, non-refundable land portion of your Cosmos tour costs and the additional transport charges paid to return home or to rejoin your original Cosmos tour (limited to the cost of economy one-way airfare by scheduled carrier, from the point of destination to the point of origin shown on your original travel tickets) if you must interrupt your trip after departure.
Should you miss a scheduled flight or your land tour departure because of delay of a public conveyance due to inclement weather, mechanical breakdown, or strike that affects public transportation, you will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for the cost of the extra fare paid to join your Cosmos tour (limited to the cost of the most economical air or service transport available). Airline-required legal minimum connection times must be observed and the scheduled time between arrival at the tour departure city and the land tour departure must be four hours or longer.
Should your Traveling Companion cancel or interrupt a Cosmos tour due to a covered injury, sickness, death, or for Other Covered Events, you will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for Cosmos charges to change your hotel accommodation for twin to single occupancy (or from triple to twin).
Should you interrupt a Cosmos tour due to a covered injury or sickness suffered by you or a Traveling Companion, you will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for accommodations and meals. Coverage begins 12 hours after the tour departs the location where you are detained. There is a maximum limit of $100 per day. |
Travel Insurance Benefits* - Part BThese benefits are paid should a loss occur within 365 days of a covered injury that takes place while on your Cosmos tour. The maximum benefit while in flight is $100,000. The maximum benefit in other circumstances is $25,000.
Should you suffer a covered injury or sickness during your Cosmos tour, and the attending physician deems it necessary for you to have emergency transport to take you home or to an appropriate hospital, you will be reimbursed up to $15,000 for the cost of the transport or the cost according to airline tariffs of homeward carriage, if deceased.
This is the maximum amount that you will be reimbursed on any covered claim for direct physical loss of or damage to your personal effects while on your Cosmos tour. There is a $500 total limit on jewelry, gems, watches, cameras and camera equipment, and furs and a $250 per article limit on all other items. Should your baggage be delayed for 24 hours or more while you are on your Cosmos tour, you will be reimbursed up to $100 for each full 24-hour period of delay up to a total of $300 for the purchase of necessary additional clothing and personal articles. |
Travel Protection Plus
For those who have selected the Travel Protection Plan on their booking, we will provide the option to purchase our Travel Protection Plus Plan, at an additional cost of only $15.00 per person. Once this coverage has been selected, Globus and Cosmos will allow you to cancel your vacation up to 24 hours (or the prior business day, whichever is farther out) before the scheduled departure for any reason. All cancellation claims must be submitted to Travel Guard for processing.If the reason for the cancellation is covered under the normal Travel Protection Plan provisions, you will be reimbursed in cash for the penalties retained by Globus and Cosmos (less the Travel Protection Plan premium and the Plus supplement). In the event the reason for the cancellation is not covered, the cancellation penalty as retained by Globus or Cosmos will be reimbursed in the form of Travel Certificates (less the Travel Protection Plan premium and the Plus supplement). Travel Guard will notify Globus and Cosmos if the cancellation claim is not covered, and Globus and Cosmos will issue certificates to the passengers. The certificates are non-refundable, non-transferable and will be valid for one year from the date of the originally confirmed departure date.
The standard Travel Protection Plan premium and the $15.00 supplement for the Plus Plan are non-refundable. This supplement must be added and confirmed on the booking prior to deposit. Please note that we are unable to add this important coverage after deposit has been made. Once elected, the Travel Protection Premium and the Plus plan cannot be removed from the booking. The Travel Protection Plus Plan does not cover penalties associated with air not purchased through Globus and Cosmos or cancellation made within 24 hours (or the prior business day, whichever is farther out).

Conditions and Limitations
The plan exclusion for Pre-Existing Conditions will be waived provided that you purchase the Travel Protection Plan within seven days after your initial deposit/payment for your trip and you are not disabled from travel when you make your payment.
Certain exclusions and limitations apply. Please review your Description of Coverage Brochure for the details of the plan. For example, coverage does not apply to: any sickness or condition of you, a Traveling Companion or an Immediate Family Member traveling with you that existed during the 45 days prior to the effective date of the coverages (this exclusion is waived if you purchase coverage within seven days of your initial deposit/payment of the trip and you are not disabled from travel when you make your plan payment), suicide, normal pregnancy, war or any act of war, mental or nervous disorders.Other Covered Events, as defined, include the following events or their consequences: a documented traffic accident while en route to departure; jury duty; destruction of your residence; or a documented theft of your passport or visas.
A Traveling Companion is defined as a person booked to share the same hotel room accommoda-tions with you during your entire Cosmos tour. An Immediate Family Member is defined as one of the following relatives (yours or those of your Traveling Companion): spouse, children, parents, stepparents, parents-in-law, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces, grandparents, grandchildren, guardians, and wards.
Sickness is defined as an illness or disease of the body that requires treatment by a Physician. Sickness of you, a Traveling Companion, Immediate Family Member, or Business Partner must commence while the Travel Protection Plan is in force for you.
All Medical Benefits are in excess of any other group or government insurance that you maintain.This plan does not cover a loss that occurs at a time when this plan is not in force.
This advertisement briefly describes the Travel Protection Plan. You should review the Description of Coverage Brochure which provides complete details of the benefits, conditions, and limitations of the plan. Please note: this advertisement does not constitute or form any part of the Travel Protection Plan or any other contract of any kind.
Cosmos includes this Travel Protection Plan as an option on your initial invoice. Of course, it is your decision whether or not to purchase the Travel Protection Plan option. All of the Part A & Part B Benefits are yours when your payment for the Travel Protection Plan has been received. Should you not want the Travel Protection Plan, please advise your travel agent. This Travel Protection Plan may not be purchased after you have made final tour payment.
Make claim reports by phone, fax, or mail. To report a claim, please provide the claimant's name, address and telephone number, tour code and invoice number, the date and cause of loss, and type of claim (i.e., cancellation, medical, baggage, etc.). Trip Mate will send the passenger a claim form.
