Medal Resort. Situated within a natural sanctuary, this resort
is easily recognized as one of the finest Southern California resorts offering
an unequaled vacation setting- with unusually spacious guest rooms, an
Arnold Palmer signature golf course, esxtensive spa and the areas top dining
choices. The 7,007-yard, par-72 course is sculpted around the natural topography,
with water hazards positioned as visual extensions of the lagoon. Time
permitting with your arrival, you may plan your first round this afternoon.
Or, we can arrange your first 18 the following morning with the second
round to be played on your morning of departure.
Accommodations- 2 nights: Four Seasons
Aviara Resort
Golf: 2 rounds per person
Day 2- Aviara Golf
Club- This spectacular
layout provides great scenery, excellent conditions, and a fair amount
of difficulty. The difficulty comes from the many uphill and downhill shots
that are required due to the many changes in elevation. In addition, the
natural vegetation that lines the fairways will add strokes to anyone who
strays that way. The undulating greens are very large, fast, and extremely
difficult to read. Several tee boxes and greens are elevated. The fairways
are fairly wide open, but there is still a definite advantage in keeping
your shots straight. Water hazards come into play on six holes. One of
the prettiest
holes
is #3, a 149-yard, par 3, which requires a tee shot to a green that is
protected by water in the front and sand bunkers in the back. This green
is very difficult to two putt, particularly if the tee is back left. "GOLF
Magazine" ranked Aviara 80th among the "Top 100 Courses You Can Play
in the U.S." for 1998.

Day 5- Ojai Valley Inn and
Spa/Ojai Country Club Ojai,
California
The
world-class Ojai Country Club was one of the first great golf courses in
California. Designed and built in 1923 under the direction of George C.
Thomas, Jr. and Billy Bell, the course was hailed as "a marvel of golfing
architecture."
Thomas, who also designed courses
at the Riviera, Bel-Air and Los Angeles country clubs, had two initial
considerations for the Ojai course: "...that the average golfer could enjoy
his round without too great a penalty, and that a test must be afforded
requiring the low-handicap man to play fine golf in order to secure pars."
In its seven decades, the golf
course has been made even more famous by the pros and celebrities who have
chosen it for exhibition play and competition. Jimmy Demaret and Doug Sanders
have been pros here, while Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Will Smith, Kevin Costner,
Michael Douglas and a host of Hollywood stars have come over the years
to play the course. The course has hosted seven Senior PGA TOUR
events
that brought legendary superstars Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Gary Player,
Tom Weiskopf, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Ben Crenshaw and others to challenge our
historic course and two EMC2 Golf Skills Challenges, as seen on NBC.

Island by Robert Louis Stevenson (published in 1863), each of the eighteen
holes are named after a character in the book. The first five holes roll
through sandy sea-side dunes. The following 13 are cut through majestic
pines. Spyglass is rated as one of the toughest courses in the world. Golfers
face both narrow and open fairways that feature Rye turf and putting greens
that feature Poe Annua. Other amenities at the golf course include
a range, swimming pool, tennis courts, and food & beverages are served
at the course.
Honors: Golf Digest

Day 9- Pebble
Beach Golf Links Pebble
Beach, California
Considered
by most players to be the pinnacle course, Pebble Beach Golf Links is the
best-known course on the West Coast and perhaps in the U.S. A GOLF MAGAZINE
Gold
Medal Resort, it boasts small greens and narrow fairways bordered
by deep rough. There are spectacular ocean views from many of the holes,
including #18, a 548-yard, par 5, which curves around the rocky shoreline.
The wind is usually a major factor, and proper club selection is paramount
if you hope to score well. Hole #5, a 166-yard par 3, was redesigned by
Jack Nicklaus in 1996 to play along the cliffs, with the new tee placed
behind the green on hole #4. Holes #8, 9, and 10 are considered the most
difficult holes, and #18 is a “Par 2000” selection and one of the most
famous finishing holes in golf. GOLF MAGAZINE ranks this course #1 among
the “Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S.” for 2000. Pebble Beach hosts
the PGA Tour's AT&T National Pro-Am. The 1972, 1982, 1992, and 2000
U.S. Opens were also played here.
Golf- 1 round per person
You may wish to make this
your final day. Or, spend one more optional night to rest up before your
departure and enjoy the magic of Pebble Beach.
