or The
Blackhorse Course (your choice), one of the Peninsula's most

Settle in to the luxurious
surrounding at The
Inn at Spanish Bay. Get a glimpse of the scenery of
this great golf mecca.
DAY 5 - This morning, tee it
up at Spyglass
Hill. Spyglass
Hill's traditional course layout was designed in 1966 by Robert Trent
Jones
opening on March 11 after 6 years of planning. Named after the novel
Treasure
Island by Robert Louis Stevenson (published in 1863), each of the
eighteen
holes are named after a character in the book. The first five holes
roll
through sandy sea-side dunes. The following 13 are cut through majestic
pines. Spyglass is rated as one of the toughest courses in the world.
Golfers
face both narrow and open fairways that feature Rye turf and putting
greens
that feature Poe Annua. Spend your second night at The Inn at Spanish
Bay.
DAY 6
- Today, play "the granddaddy" of
this
magnificent resort. Considered
by most players to be the pinnacle course, Pebble Beach Golf
Links is the
best-known course on the West Coast and perhaps in the U.S. A GOLF
MAGAZINE Gold
Medal Resort, it boasts small greens and narrow fairways
bordered
by deep rough. There are spectacular ocean views from many of the
holes,
including #18, a 548-yard, par 5, which curves around the rocky
shoreline.
The wind is usually a major factor, and proper club selection is
paramount
if you hope to score well. Hole #5, a 166-yard par 3, was redesigned by
Jack Nicklaus in 1996 to play along the cliffs, with the new tee placed
behind the green on hole #4. Holes #8, 9, and 10 are considered the
most
difficult holes, and #18 is one of the most
famous finishing holes in golf! Depart for The Ritz Carlton
Half Moon Bay Resort after your round.
DAY 7
- This morning, play the first of
two
links located at the resort. We
can arrange your play in any order. The Old Course,
designed by Arnold Palmer, weaves around lakes, through cypress and
coastal pines, finishing on one of the highest ranked golf holes in the
world. The
Ocean Course, designed by world-famous golf architect Arthur
Hills, is a
true links layout with an authentic Scottish soul. The Ocean's three
finishing holes have been lauded as among the best in course design.
Tonight, take in the breathtaking sunset from your balcony as you enjoy
your last night in a coastal-view room at The Ritz Carlton overlooking
the Pacific Ocean.
DAY 8 - Play your second round at Half Moon Bay
Golf Links. And finally, all
great adventures must come
to end. Depart for San
Francisco and the airport for your homeward-bound flight and memories
that will last a lifetime. |

The Presidio Golf
Course has an
interesting history in its more than 110 years of existence. This
club's story has been intermingled with the US Army at its previous
home in the Presidio of San Francisco. For decades, the golf
course was part of the Army's base and operations. Today,
as a result of the Department of Defense downsizing, the course is
under control of the Presidio Trust and open to the public. The
Palmer Management Co. performs course management and operations.
Designed with tight fairways and
strategically placed bunkers, this 18-hole "hilly" golf course offers a
unique challenge for golfers of all abilities. Originally
designed
by Robert Wood Johnstone, the course was expanded in 1910 by Johnstone
in collaboration with Wiliam McEwan and redesigned and lengthened in by
the British firm of Fowler & Simpson in 1921.
Over the years, the course has been host to a number of prominent
golfers including Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Bing Crosby
and Arnold Palmer.

PASATIEMPO
GOLF CLUB
designed

Alister MacKenzie
|
Pasatiempo
was designed by world-renowned golf architect Alister MacKenzie. Even
though MacKenzie also designed Augusta National and Cypress Point, Pasatiempo
was his favorite layout and where he made his American home,
which still borders the sixth fairway. Today, this historic top 100
course is a semi-private golf club that sets aside
certain tee times each day for public play.
Pasatiempo is a
golfer’s dream come true — it is ranked #11 in Golf
Magazine’s Top 100 Courses You Can Play 2008 and ranked #31 in Golf
Digest’s 2005 America’s Greatest Public Courses. Golf Digest also named
Pasatiempo Golf Club as one of the top 3 courses you
can play in California (along with Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill).
Golf Magazine ranks Pasatiempo #55 in the Top 100 Courses in
the U.S. (private and public), up 16 places over the
2005 ranking!
From
greens that have challenged generations of golfers including Bobby
Jones, Ken Venturi, Juli Inkster, and Tiger Woods, to rich golf
history and breathtaking scenery, Pasatiempo delivers a memorable golf
experience; it is truly one of the finest championship golf courses in
the world.

Bayonet
Course
Retaining
its classic, tree-lined character, while showcasing Gene Bates’ elegant
bunkering and graceful greens, the new Bayonet offers expanded views of
the bay. Although the overall length of Bayonet has increased
only 16 yards, the strategic and visual impact created by Bates’
bunkering is immeasurable.
The front nine,
which debuted in May of 2007, is different from the original layout in
several ways -- mostly notably the order that the holes are played has
changed and a spectacular new ninth hole has been created.
Remaining a par 36, the new front nine offers four tees and total
yardage that ranges from 2,730 to 3,591.
Overall, the
addition of Bates’ classic bunkering, punctuated by snow-white sand,
and removal of the Kikuyu and poa annua grasses in the fairways and
greens have produced a substantial improvement to Bayonet’s playing
conditions.
Blackhorse
Course
The back nine of Black Horse Golf Course
is the newest addition to the spectacular renovation of the landmark
golf destination that overlooks the famed Monterey Peninsula.
The
sensational new era at Black Horse is certain to provide both
challenges and inspiration to golfers for generations to come.
The golf course has been re-sculpted by
award-winning golf course architect Gene Bates, whose new back nine was
unveiled May 1, 2008. The Black Horse front nine
debuted February of 2009.
