and long-time favorite destination of European nobility. Opatija
welcomes you with swishing palms and stately seaside villas. This

Day 3: Opatija - Moscenice - Pula - Porec - Opatija
 LANGUAGE DISCOVERY: Today, your Tour
Manager will help you discover the origin and history of the
language(s) you will experience on your tour along with key words and
phrases that will help you communicate with locals. Travel to the
medieval hill town of Moscenice, perched on a dramatic precipice
overlooking Kvarner Bay. Enjoy free time to wander its narrow streets
and soak up its romantic charm. Enjoy a tour of the local museum,
learning about the history behind their olive press and indulge in a
sample of locally-made brandy!
Continue to the beautiful coastal city of Pula, on the southern end of
the Istrian peninsula, dating to the 10th century B.C. A walking tour
highlights the imposing and well-preserved first-century amphitheater
and the city’s many artifacts from its time as a Roman colony. Next,
visit the charming seaside city of Porec. More than 2,000 years old,
Porec’s city center still follows its ancient Roman street plan. Visit
the Euphrasian Basilica Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site with
remarkably intact 6th century Byzantine art and early Christian mosaics
dating to the 2nd and 6th centuries.

Opatija
Enjoy the many charms of Opatija at
leisure today. Or, join an optional excursion to the staggeringly
beautiful Plitvice Lakes, a Croatian national park and UNESCO World
Heritage site.

Day 5: Opatija - Ljubljana, Slovenia - Bled -
Opatija, Croatia
 Today you travel to Croatia’s neighbor
to the north, Slovenia. Stop in its vibrant and friendly capital,
Ljubljana, for a locally guided tour revealing the unique character of
Stara Ljubljana, Ljubljana Old Town, where distinct Baroque and Art
Nouveau edifices blend with the striking creations of the visionary
20th century architect, Jože Plecnik. Continue your journey to the
historic and enchanting lake resort of Bled, nestled in the rugged
Julian Alps. Enjoy the
old-world charm of taking a “pletna” boat to the island on the lake to
visit the 17th century cathedral, St. Mary’s Church, and the “wishing
bell.” The remainder of the day is at leisure for you to relax or
explore this fairy tale resort on your own before returning to Opatija.

Day 6: Opatija - Lipica - Opatija
Discover the
historic home of the world-famous Lipizzaner horses when you visit the
Lipica Stud Farm. Charles II, Archduke of Austria, founded the farm in
1580 to breed horses for his powerful family, the Hapsburgs. Tour this
fascinating facility and learn about these docile and elegant
creatures. Your next stop is
one of the finest wine producing areas in the region where you have the
opportunity to sample some locally produced varieties.

Your day is at
leisure.
Relax along the shore, enjoy Opatija’s many sights and pleasures or you
may choose to join an optional excursion to one of the world’s most
romantic cities, Venice, Italy, featuring a walking tour that includes
historic St. Mark’s Square, the Doge’s Palace and the “Bridge of Sighs.”

Day 8: Opatija - Hum - Motovun - Opatija
 Today, travel to the
world’s smallest town, Hum. Listed in the Guinness Book of World
Records, Hum is home to some of Istria’s most famous and renowned
frescoes. While here you will have the opportunity to sample their
famous mistletoe brandy. Then it’s on to Motovun, a beautiful medieval
city spread over the top of a 740 foot vineyard-covered hill. Step into
the past as you explore this one-time colony of the Venetian Republic,
its architecture reflective of its colonial days. Finally, visit a local farm where the
family will show you their way of life in the Istrian countryside. Join
your hosts as you learn about the ingredients harvested from their
land. Complete the evening with a wonderful farewell dinner on the farm.

Romantic Venice $140

Travel to the enchanting city of Venice,
where 117 tiny islands are connected by a beautiful latticework of 150
canals and 400 bridges. Experience the magnificence of Murano glass by
witnessing a fascinating glass-blowing demonstration and then have the
opportunity to shop for some of these works of art. A local expert will
take you on a walking tour featuring the charming St. Mark’s Square,
the hub of Venetian city life. View the Clock Tower with its famous
Moors, St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace and the legendary Bridge
of Sighs. While in romantic Venice, take advantage of your free time to
wander the streets or perhaps enjoy a romantic ride on the famous
gondolas.

The Wonders of
Plitvice Lakes $110
City: Opatija
During your free day in Opatija, you are
invited to travel to Croatia’s national treasure, Plitvice Lakes
National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage site is sure to leave you
speechless. You will be in awe as you travel through spectacular
scenery where sixteen terraced lakes tumble into each other through a
series of dramatic waterfalls and cascades, surrounded by dense forests
and lush vegetation. You come within arm’s length of the cascades that
make up the beauty of this natural phenomenon. Walk across wooden paths
that actually cross over the lakes and allow you to seemingly “walk on
water”. A short cruise will also take you across the clear, pristine
lake waters.
This excursion
includes walking over uneven surfaces and inclines. The temperature in
the lakes region is usually cooler than other areas of the region. Be
sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and dress in layers to adjust to
the temperatures.

What exactly is your cancellation waiver?
We have the best
cancellation waiver in the industry-period. You can cancel your trip up
until the day prior to departure for any reason - sickness, change of
heart or any reason whatsoever-and you will receive a full refund,
minus the small cost of the insurance. That's a cash refund, not a
voucher or certificate. There's no risk when you book with Collette.
But isn't it
expensive?
Not at all! Let's
say you were planning to take our Italian Vistas tour for 13 days. The
land-only waiver is just $170 per person. That breaks down to about
$13.07 a day-just a little over eight euros! The land and air waiver is
only $30 more. That's airplane peanuts compared to the peace of mind
you'll enjoy.
Plus, you're
covered on tour.
Our cancellation
waiver and insurance plan covers you on tour. If you have to stop your
trip or return home early, need medical assistance or evacuation,
suffer a baggage loss or delay; or are delayed on tour for 12 hours or
more, you're covered.

WAIVER & INSURANCE PLAN |
Exception: If
you originally purchased
non-refundable airline tickets, the Waiver does not provide a refund
for the airline tickets, taxes or fees in the event of a cancellation
or a return transportation benefit if you must return home early. The
air waiver does not cover medical evacuation or additional expenses
associated with a medical emergency.
The Waiver Fee does not cover any single supplement charges which arise
from an individual’s traveling companion electing to cancel for any
reason prior to departure. In this case, the single supplement will be
deducted from the refund of the person who cancels. Division of this
charge between the two passengers involved is solely their
responsibility. If insufficient funds are deducted from the canceling
client, the traveling client will be charged the remaining portion of
the single supplement.
Payment of the Waiver Fee (if chosen) must be received by Collette
Vacations with your Deposit. The Waiver is non-transferable and valid
for each applicant only.
Collette Vacations can assume no responsibility for and cannot be held
liable for any wrongful, negligent or unauthorized acts or omissions of
any travel agent or travel agency other than that of Collette Travel
Service, Inc. itself, and its own employees.

PART B CONDITIONS &
LIMITATIONS Certain exclusions and limitations apply and are
detailed in the Certificate of Coverage. For example, coverage does not
apply to: any sickness or condition of you, a Traveling Companion or an
Immediate Family Member traveling with you that existed during the 60
days prior to the effective date of the coverages (this exclusion is
waived if your plan payment is received by Collette Vacations within 7
days of your initial deposit/payment for your trip and you are not
disabled from travel at the time your plan payment is received),
suicide, normal pregnancy, war or any act of war, mental or nervous
disorders. A Traveling Companion is defined as a person booked to share
accommodations in the same room with you during your trip. Sickness or
injury must require care by a Physician and must commence while the
Travel Protection Plan is in effect for you. This plan does not cover a
loss that results from an illness, disease, or other condition (of you,
an Immediate Family Member, Traveling Companion or Business Partner),
event or circumstance which occurs at a time when this plan is not in
effect for you.
